Google Pays Tribute to Pakistan’s Heart-Throb

Google Doodle pays tribute today to Pakistan’s Chocolate Hero and ultimate Heart-Throb, Waheed Murad.

Born in Sialkot, Punjab, Pakistan on 2nd October 1938, Waheed Murad was one of the leading actor, producer and scriptwriter of his time in Pakistan. He graduated from the SM Arts College Karachi, and went on to get a Masters in English literature from the University of Karachi.

His film career began with a cameo in 1959 in the movie, Saathi, at the age of 21 years. He produced successful films such as Armaan and acted in 125 feature films, earning him 32 film awards. He was awarded the third-highest civilian award, the Sitara-e-Imtiaz posthumously in 2010.

It would have been Murad’s 81st birthday.
