The Web Summit 2018 is the go-to event everyone who is someone, is at. Here’s a quick look at some of the numbers that make them as significant as we’re saying they are:
69,304 people from 159 countries will attend Lisbon this year. The attendees will walk an estimated 975,000km over the course of the week, and drink more than 367,500 coffees. More than 1,200 speakers will deliver talks and debate on panels across 24 stages.
When you look at the success of an app, the Summit has announced that thus far, attendees have added more than 373,00 talks to their schedules, 150,000 messages have been sent and there have been more than 680,000 profile views on the app as investors and startups plan their week.
Just to name-drop a few of the 1,200+ speakers, speakers include the inventor of the Web, Sir Tim Berners Lee; the founder of Blogger, Twitter, and Medium, Ev Williams; UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres; and European Commissioner for Competition, Margrethe Vestager. Again, this is just to name a few.
There are more than 1800 startups and more than 1500 tech investors walking through the halls of the Summit. Investor giants such as Ray Dalio, Co-Chief Investment Officer of Bridgewater Associates, Alexis Ohanian and Garry Tan, co-founders of Initialized Capital, Mamoon Hamid, General Partner at Kleiner Perkins, and Trae Vassallo, co-founder at Defy Ventures are among the 1,500+ investors who will be walking our exhibition floor.
