An estimated 500 million people have been victims of identity theft since 2005 while an associated cost of more than $200 billion has been the business impact worldwide. Nearly 80% of BYOD (Bring-Your-Own-Device) activity remains inadequately managed by IT departments and in the US alone, 63% of US citizens have been denied access to an account because they could not remember a password, username or response. Verifiable identity is key to improving efficiencies in labor processes in the developing world. But while digital identity can play a critical role in solving the many issues surrounding trust, trade, and transfer, there is a lot of hype around the same and that is why when Dave Birch was conducting a panel discussion with Bianca Lopes on “Identity Around the World: Global Case Studies in Digital ID”, the hall was packed with an audience to separate the chaff from the wheat.
Dave Birch is the Director of Innovation at Consult Hyperion and conducted a panel on”Identity Around the World: Global Case Studies in Digital ID” during Money 20/20 USA.
