Following the launch of Huawei P20 Pro, which features a Leica triple-lens camera, Apple is also expected to build an iPhone having a triple-lens camera and features like 3D depth sensing and enhanced zoom.
The upgrades in the upcoming flagship iPhone, likely to be launched next year, are expected to be similar to what we have seen in Huawei P20 Pro.
According to a research paper of Deutsche Securities analyst Jialun Lu, the 2019 iPhone will also feature advanced 3D sensing coupled with stereoscopic vision in its triple-lens camera.
In the report, Jialun Lu writes that iPhone will use the TrueDepth sensor similar to what we first saw on the front of the iPhone X. It further says that the 2019 iPhone will use 3D sensing for augmented reality features.
The smartphone photography has evolved and companies are focusing on providing DSLR-like results in smartphones by upgrading camera lenses. With Huawei pioneering this field with its triple-lens camera setup, including a 40MP, 20MP monochrome lens and an 8MP telephoto lens with 3X optical zoom, the competition is likely to grow in coming years.
