DG Khan Cement announced the completion of their latest plant at Hub, Balochistan on Wednesday. The plant was constructed at a cost of $300 million and is the biggest cement plant by production in Pakistan, with a production capacity of 9000 tons/day. The plant also features the “largest vertical cement grinding mill with cope drive” according to a spokesperson from the company.
The plant is seen as evidence of Pakistan’s booming construction sector due to CPEC. Cement sales have increased by 15.1 percent to 38.996 million tons during the first ten months of this fiscal year. The latter is encouraging further international investment in the country which opens up the opportunity for further construction. The plant will increase employment in the region by hiring 1000 workers.
DG Khan Cement is the third largest cement producer in the country with a production capacity of 14000 tons/day. It operates three plants in total, two in Dera Ghazi Khan and one in Chakwal. With this newest plant in Hub, Balochistan, it’s production capacity will rise by more than 30%.
The company has also signed an agreement with K-Electric for 40 MW of power needed for its operations.
