Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Revenue Haroon Akhtar Khan has announced that no additional tax will be imposed on telecom sector as the government wants growth of this sector. The premier’s assistant said this during a meeting in Islamabad with CEOs and other high-level representatives of telecom companies working in Pakistan. “We want this industry to flourish so that the people of Pakistan get better and better services at their doorstep,” Haroon Akhtar Khan said.
During the meeting, issues related to withholding tax, sales tax, industrial undertaking for the telecom industry and the proposals for Budget 2017-18 also came under discussion. Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Tariq Mahmood Pasha and other FBR officials were present during the meeting which was attended by Ufone VP Naveed Khalid Butt, Telenor CEO Irfan Waheed Khan, Zong’s Executive Director Syed Naveed Akhtar and Jazz CRA Chief Ali Naseer, among others.
