Ministry of IT and Telecom (MoIT) has reportedly allocated Rs.124 million for training and investment of start-ups as it joins forces with the IT sector to develop new applications for people who are mentally or physically challenged.
Under this arrangement, the IT Ministry will be funding various programs proposed by private sector companies to develop specific apps for the target market. The government will also facilitate the training of startups under this program. Industry experts have termed this initiative a good start for the socio-economic inclusion of the differently abled persons.
Commenting on the development, Yusuf Hussain, CEO of Ignite-National Technology Fund, said, “We employ innovation to help fellow citizens, challenged by impairments, to lead engaged and fulfilling lives.”
