Google launches Slack competitor Hangouts Chat for G Suite customers this week. Hangouts Chat works for up to 8,000 users, is available in 28 languages, accessible through Android and iOS apps and the web and comes free to G Suite users. The integration into the G Suite gives Hangouts Chat one-click visibility into an active userbase across sectors. G Suite and its Google Cloud Platform generates more than $1bn in revenue for Google.
Hangouts will also compete with Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business, which are part of the Office 365 portfolio. One of the biggest functionalities companies seek is that of collaboration. With Google’s restructuring and recent rollouts of apps, the competition between the two will definitely become more fierce.
