HMD Global, the Finnish company which has a licensing agreement that allows it to make smartphones under the Nokia brand, on Wednesday announced the launch of its first flagship phone Nokia 8 in Pakistan. Kamran Khan, HMD Global Country Head for Pakistan, introduced the newly launched at an event held in Karachi.
Nokia8 comes with a feature which enables dual-sight video to be live streamed natively and in real-time to social feeds such as Facebook and YouTube. Nokia 8 is also the first smartphone to feature OZO Audio, placing exclusive Hollywood technology in the palm of your hand. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform.
The cameras have been co-developed with ZEISS Optics for an optimum all around experience, reads the statement. Nokia 8 offers a pure and secure version of Android 8.0 Oreo with no skins and changes in the user interface, says Ammar Ahmed, the Head of Marketing for HMD Global, while speaking at the launch event. Ahmed said, “Nokia 8 is a resilient phone and it is built to last.”
The newly launched Nokia 8 will be available in four colors: Polished Blue, Polished Copper, Tempered Blue and Steel and will be available in Pakistan from today at a retail price of PKR 59,900/-. During the event, HMD Global also introduced its Nokia 2 smartphone which boasts of a 2-day battery support. Nokia 2 was launched in October 2017, and comes with a 5-inch touchscreen display.
It is powered by 1.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 processor and comes with 1GB of RAM. The phone packs 8GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. As far as the cameras are concerned, the Nokia 2 packs a 8-megapixel primary camera on the rear and a 5-megapixel front shooter for selfies.
Talking about the features of Nokia 2, Ahmed said: “Our phones are designed and built after thorough research featuring the needs and requirements of people of Pakistan.”
