Facebook is reported to be hiring an executive to negotiate sports deals, according to the Sports Business Journal. It has been interviewing candidates since a while and the job is reported to manage a budget of ‘a few billion dollars’ for Internet-only sports streaming deals. To offer its users enriched content, the person hired for the job will comfortably be able to acquire multiple streaming licenses.

Sports and politics make for two of the most widely followed content categories. By offering exclusive streaming options to its users, Facebook will be able to gain even greater control over the content it serves. It will also continue to be a major player in license auctions for streaming sports events.
