Apple and Nokia have settled litigation related to intellectual property disputes and have instead embarked upon a new business agreement. As part of the collaboration Apple will be making some payments to Nokia for the use of their network infrastructure services.
Nokia has benefited heavily from the new deal as analysts estimate that Nokia will be receiving around $600 million from Apple. This has also driven up Nokia’s shares by 7%. Neither of the companies is commenting on the exact value of the settlement, but it can be assumed that payments have been made both for patent licensing sales and sales in other Nokia business groups.
Apple will also be restoring Nokia’s digital health products from their stores which were previously sold under the Withings brand, which Apple had removed a few days after Nokia sued them.
