Whatsapp Finally Launches Video Calling

Whatsapp will be launching free video calling for its one billion users. The service will continue be fully encrypted. The user experience will build on the ‘call’ icon within the app, which will allow users to select voice or video call to activate the call.

The fact that Whatsapp’s video call enjoys cross-platform support, will become a major threat to Skype. Facetime, which is only native to Apple Devices and Google Duo which isn’t compatible with older versions of iOS, have yet another reason to worry about their rate of consumption.

Telco operators and connectivity providers across Pakistan have yet one more reason to expect increased revenue through data.
